Quotes

"Reality is hitting, and the reality is the American people are interested in jobs, not extreme legislation"

“All these restrictions we have on natural gas, on oil exploration, on coal, on nuclear, on wind, on all of our forms of energy, should not be restricted. We need to encourage all of them.”

Cap-and-trade is nothing more than a BTU tax. They don’t like to call it a tax. It’ll take dollars away from our industry. And that can only mean that we’ll drill less.”

“There was an inherent flaw when Congress set off down the road of favoring one fuel source over another.”

Evidence

In addition to his involvement in Washington power denial, he is a major political contributor to candidates who promise to block environmental regulation.  One such recipient is the vitriolic James Inhofe.  Inhofe has referred to Nichols as a confidant and trusted source on energy policy.

Nichols spends a significant amount of time in Washington DC where he is a registered lobbyist and has affiliations with some of the most outspoken and venomous global warming denial groups. He is chairman of the American Petroleum Institute (API), a group that has been caught in numerous attempts to block carbon legislation through astroturfing campaigns.  He also sits on the board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which is a steadfast denier of global warming.
